Blog post 2: Why did I choose my major?
Hi everyone,
I study journalism at the University of Chile, it is my second year. I chose that career because it is very social and I can interact with different people. It is more entertaining than sitting all the time learning mathematical formulas, you learn day by day stories of people who want to be heard and you acquire knowledge of all kinds . Also I really like writing and speaking. (Although when I entered the university I realized that my level of school in those areas is very low).
When I was a child I was very outgoing, language was always my favorite subject, I really liked television and in the shower I did commercials with shampoohs. There I decided I wanted to be a journalist and in fifth grade I was going to a workshop. When I was older, I realized that journalism was more than television and I could work in many areas such as writing news or working behind the camera.
In school I never liked other careers. But at the time of applying I thought a lot about studying law because it is the humanistic career that gives the most income and something of my ego called me. But I put it one of the last options and I preferred to go for journalism, which was my main objective.
I really like journalism because of its social role and because it can help people and make situations visible through the mass media. I really like how it works and the immediacy in which it is shared.
My experience at the university now hasn't been the best because it is all online, having classes behind a screen is exhausting and I feel that I learn everything by half. Sometimes I have been unmotivated but I understand that it is the current situation and it is better to take care of the pandemic.
Despite everything I like the subjects, some more than others but I have learned a lot and prensecially I think they would be very interesting and fun.

Omg, we choose this mayor for a very similar reasoons! I really hope to meet all of our classmates soon
ResponderEliminarI'm glad you chose journalism over the law, honestly I find it very boring and monotonous, although money still attracts attention jajaja, I hope one day to do everything we have pending as a university student<3
